![]() ![]() I can't really say the same for the older games (and I never liked Angelo, fight me). ![]() 7 characters, all of them were lovable and had interesting backstories. Kinda seemed that way to me though.ĭQ11 has in my opinion the best main cast in the entire series. The maps themselves are pretty large, though I can't tell if DQ11 is overall larger than 8 or not. The overworld is not open like DQ8, instead it's closer to FF10 or 12, with a bunch of smaller maps connected to each other. The skill tree system I thought was a step up from DQ8 and 9's, same thing for the smithing system which I largely prefer over alchemy. I like both of those changes, but I can understand that not everyone will share my opinion. Instead of entering all your characters commands at once and then seeing it play out, you only enter a character's command when it's their turn. This is probably a polarizing point, but the battle system was altered slightly. The towns themselves felt larger than in 8, with good enough variety. The world and its towns and NPCs were charming as always. I can also read Japanese and played all the games in the original language so I can't comment on the localizations.ġ1 is probably my favorite game, 3 and 5 being close, but I'll have to admit that the graphics play a huge part in this, and the fact that no other modern game scratched my JRPG itch like DQ11 did. I played every main game in the series except 10. ![]()
